Looking for THE ideal place to stay while you are touring the LOIRE castles ? Choose a central location, and a lively place furthermore, so you can enjoy the French way of life as well as the advantages of a touristic city !

Stay in the city of TOURS !

at  our self-catering accomodation : L'ERMITAGE !

If you are more than two people, we can accomodate you in the other flat, at the same address, so a group up to 8 people can stay using the two flats !

location Tours coin evier  Our little gite " L'ERMITAGE" is on the ground floor of a very old  house (from the middle ages) ; it will be a  perfect place for you : easy to reach by car, with a FREE car-park 1' away, OR by train (only one hour from Paris ! plus a 20' walk from the station) , OR by plane ( frequent flights from various places in England and Ireland, plus Portugal via a low-cost company, how nice !) . For ONE or TWO persons only, but a baby or infant (less than 3 years old) is OK too, we have the full equipment for him/her.

Cathedrale de Tours

From our place, after crossing the river on a very nice footbridge (bikes are allowed too) and admiring the majesty of the  Loire river (nicknamed the last wild river in Europe), you reach the city centre, the historical places (castle, cathedral, museum of art and gardens), the oldest streets featuring  a large choice of restaurants and pubs : they are all 10'away on foot ! A little further on, you will get to the shopping area, and the very famous " Place plumereau" a beautiful old square which is the meeting point of the locals,  in the old historical area.

CHA00009HDSo, after a day out, visiting one of the famous castles for examples, you will enjoy a stroll in the all-the-year-round busy city centre ( the university and its students participate in the city life), go to a pub, visit an art gallery, enjoy a nice meal ... and wines !. There is always something on in Tours in the evening!

Lunch-breaks (or dinners) at your accomodation will be a nice moment in the warm season, as you can have a BBQ on your terrace. The yard is common to the tenants of the three houses , but  you have your own place, which doesn't mean you can't chat with the people there, a nice way to improve your French (!) and to know more about French people. gite Tours terrasse

Inside the gite, everything has been carefully studied : the furniture, the equipment, the organisation of the space. Nothing is missing ! And if you required something special, we would be delighted to take it to you, we live nearby !

Bus stop, bakery, butchery, grocery 1' away, next to the church ! This area of Tours called "quartier paul Bert" is a very nice small sort of village with its church, square, cafes and restaurants, and of course its shops. Worth a visit : the yards and little lanes ( very old houses everywhere !) . As you will see, most houses on one side of a very long street are built against and/or IN the cliff , so we have troglodytes there ( your accomodation is partly troglodyte but you are not aware of it ! a very nice advantage : you will never be too hot even if the temperatures are very high)

As we love having foreign visitors, we care about your needs; so you will find satellite TV, DVDS in English, touristic documentation in English. And I love speaking English !

Have a look at the photo album, at the 360°visit  ( see links below) as  pictures are better than words !
